Summer

The summertime is the rainy season. From late May through June it gets progressively hotter with heavy thunderstorms during the evening. Once the monsoon proper breaks in early July there is daily rainfall, often of Biblical proportions. While visits during the monsoon are possible, travel can be regularly disrupted due to roads being blocked by landslides and to flights being cancelled due to poor visibility. Having said that, a monsoon visit, especially for Kathmandu sightseeing, can be very rewarding. Monsoon time is also the peak season for visits to Tibet starting in Kathmandu.
